Christmas vacations: Top 5 best places around the world to go.

 Christmas Holliday's Season

is quickly approaching and you need to get prepped as soon as possible. Check out this list of the most popular destinations for Christmas 2018/2019.

From Mexico to England and northern lights to sunny skies, these 10 destinations celebrate Christmas better than the rest:

1- New York City

New York City comprises 5 boroughs sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. At its core is Manhattan, a densely populated borough that’s among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and sprawling Central Park. Broadway theater is staged in neon-lit Times Square.

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us! Of course, we’re referring to Christmas in New York, a magical time when the best New York attractions transform into the most festive winter wonderlands. During the holiday season, you’ll spot Christmas lights and trees in every borough. You’ll also find pop-up holiday markets outside of subway stations which provide excellent gift ideas for your friends and family. Aside from the decor, make sure to keep an eye out for Christmas movie screenings and concerts in NYC, including other popular showssuch as the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

Each Christmas, thousands of New Yorkers (and tourists) travel to the bright and brilliant nexus of town: the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. Various tree lighting ceremonies take place all over New York, but the show at Rockefeller Center is by far superior. Don’t skip your chance to see the massive Norway spruce glowing in Christmas lights for the first time only a few days after Thanksgiving in NYC. This tree is one of the top New York attractions to visit in person. There’s nothing better than going ice-skating, warming up with hot coca and taking pictures with the stunning Rockefeller Center tree as your backdrop. But if you can’t make it this year, you can watch the ceremony and performances live on WNBC. That’s also great news for any anxious New Yorker (ahem, all of us) who wants to see this year’s spectacle but avoid the crowds. And, oh, it will be a good show!

The Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony is located at Rockefeller Center on 49th St between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

Fashion's biggest names join in the festivities, setting up impressive Christmas window displays. The most glamorous cases are at the Fifth Avenue flagships and department stores such as Saks and Bergdorf.

3-Malta

Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. It's a nation known for historic sites related to a succession of rulers including the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John, French and British. It has numerous fortresses, megalithic temples and the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, a subterranean complex of halls and burial chambers dating to circa 4000 B.C.

Malta has it’s own unique customs and traditions.

For a very special, spiritual evening, join the congregation at St. John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta for candlelit carol singing. Other Baroque parish churches across the Islands are just as awe-inspiring during advent. Their interiors are decked out in papal crimson and altars are adorned with flowers. All churches have a calendar of events, ranging from the procession of Mary and Joseph, to streets with groups of children carol singing.

Cribs are positively everywhere, from private houses to small chapels. Visiting cribs is a popular activity at Christmastime and many locals spend time going round touring the various ‘presepju' displays.  Some are very artistic and elaborate, with figures moving around mechanically and a degree of detail that comes from hours of meticulous work by dedicated craftsmen.

A Christmas highlight, which is popular for children and adults alike, is the annual pantomime held at the Manoel Theatre. It's a happy mix of good slapstick humour for children and satire for adults.

Restaurants, hotels, bars and clubs all have their own entertainment, making for an abundant choice of what to do and see.

4-Nuremberg, Germany

The tempting aromas of mulled wine, sweet roasted almonds, Nuremberg sausages and gingerbread create an unforgettable atmosphere in the Old Town decorated in its Christmas regalia. The world-famous Christkindlesmarkt Christmas Market in Nuremberg southern Germany  lies right at the heart of it with its more than 400 years of tradition.

Nuremberg's Christmas Market starts at the end of November and continues through December. It's a traditional festive German market with yuletide treats like gluhwein, gingerbread and Nuremberg's famous bratwurst sausages. The opening ceremony is presented by the glamourous Christkind, who recites her now famous Christmas speech to thousands in the Main Market Square. You could also take a city tour in the old fashioned stage coaches and enjoy the nostalgic Christmas tunes the coachman plays on his trumpet. Finally take a walk up the steps of the Church of Our Lady for a spectacular view of the market's red and white coloured stalls and decorative lights. The children's market section is ideal for families.

Lined with chalet-style wooden stalls, the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt (Christmas market) is a great spot for holiday shopping. Gift ideas include wooden toys, delicate handmade jewelry, sparkling Christmas decorations, flavored vodkas, and a Nuremberg gold-foiled Christmas angel for your own tree. Next to the Nuremberg Christmas Market in the Old Town is the Sister Cities Market, where you can find crafts from more than a dozen of Nuremberg’s sister cities around the world.

Food and drink stalls at the Christkindlesmarkt offer delicious Christmas favorites such as roasted almonds, Nuremberg sausages, and spicy gingerbread known as lebkuchen. Wash it all down with some gluhwein (hot mulled wine) or rum punch.

Seasonal carol concerts take place daily in front of the Frauenkirche, while Nuremberg’s other churches are also regularly filled with the holiday music of carol services.

5-Honolulu, Hawaii

Santa hats are worn and the traditional Santa's sleigh and reindeer are replaced by an outrigger canoe pulled by dolphins. The different cultures and ethnic groups that have settled in the islands celebrate the Christmas traditions of Hawaii in their own unique ways, which may be religious or plainly secular.

Christmas celebrated in a very unique way in Hawaii. While much of the country dreams of a white Christmas with Santa bringing presents on his sleigh on Christmas Eve, in Hawaii, Santa often arrives on a surfboard or outrigger canoe, and unless you're at the summit of Mauna Kea, you won't see snow or any cold weather.

Each year on opening night, the mayor of Honolulu flips the switch on the lights and the city Christmas tree, followed by the annual parade of festooned vehicles and school bands on River Street that continues through downtown. Special events continue at Honolulu City Lights throughout December.
